Congratulations & "Da iawn" to Wales' Deaf Rugby Sevens Squad
As their official travel partners Inspiresport would like to offer Wales’ Deaf Rugby Sevens team a huge congratulations defeating England in the final of the World Deaf Rugby Sevens by 21 points to 15 in Australia.
Wales reached the final having defeated Fiji in the semi final by 26 points to 21.
In a close and tense final played at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Wales opened the scoring first with a length of the field try by Jack Tugwell (Llandaff North RFC) that was converted by Wes Pooley. England hit back with two unconverted tries to lead by 10 points to 7 at the break.
With England leading by 15 points to 14 and the clock running down, Wales were desperately seeking a way to unlock their defence. With almost the final play of the game, Llandovery RFC’s Shaun Miles broke through and as he was tackled, captain Jon Cudd (Morriston RFC) was on his shoulder to take the scoring pass and create a magical piece of history for deaf rugby in Wales.
