ESFA U18 – Inter Milan
Last month the U18 English Schools Football Association (ESFA) team went on a five day sports tour to Milan. They had the opportunity to train with academy coaches, benefitted from the training facilities and practiced their newly learned skills against local opposition.
During their first day in Milan the group had a behind the scenes tour of the San Siro Stadium which was followed with a fixture the boys got to watch between Inter Milan and Sampdoria.
John Martin, chairman of the English School Football Association said:
“It was a fantastic experience, seeing the (Inter) players, being so close to them and watching an exciting game”.
Day two was packed with activities for the group. It started off with a training session with Inter academy staff at the Suning Youth Development Centre, that was followed up with a training session on their own, visit of the Inter HQ and some time at leisure in the city centre of Milan.
To compliment their training and exposure to Italian football, the team tested their skills against the Inter Academy U18 team. John commented that the group received a ‘comprehensive experience which he would recommend to anyone wanting to come to Milan’.
Day three began with a morning training session and the boys newly acquired skills were later tested in a friendly fixture against AC Renate. The party leader was really happy with what he described as “fantastic facilities and excellent coaches who were very helpful”.
Furthermore, John mentioned that the group has received a ‘comprehensive experience which he would recommend to anyone wanting to come to Milan’.
The group had time to squeeze in one last training session during their last day which was followed up with a flight back to the UK.
Upon their return the party leaders shared that it was:
“a unique experience as we all enjoyed the first class experience that Inter Milan offered. We all had a superb 5 days that was a positive and enjoyable experience.”
ESFA U15 – PSV
Around the same time the ESFA girls under 15 travelled to PSV Eindhoven to spend five days training, experiencing the local culture and perfecting their skills.
On their first day, after a morning filled with travelling, the group got to check into the hotel and get ready for their evening fixture vs Rkvv Jeka Mo U15. Phil Arding, vice chairman at ESFA, commented that ‘everything from flight out on the first day to everything at the hotel’ had gone smoothly.
Day two was filled with two training sessions both in the morning and the afternoon.
For their third day the girls went on a behind the scenes tour of the Philips Stadium and club shop. This was followed up by some free time to explore the city of Eindhoven. In the afternoon the players were scheduled for a training session with their own coaches. The evening was reserved for practicing their newly acquired skills in a fixture against FC Eindhoven.
Phil mentioned that it was ‘an excellent hotel with great sporting facilities.’ He continued by saying that
‘the arrangements have been wonderful and he really couldn’t recommend inspiresport enough’
Their fourth day presented the unique opportunity to go on a tour of De Herdgang facilities as well as testng their newly acquired skills against the PSV Youth Academy.
To top it off, the group got to watch the PSV first team training.
On day five the group travelled back to the UK.
The party leader of the group commented that the tour was “overall an excellent experience for all involved. Great for building squad cohesion.”
