Barbados makes for a great sports tour destination, with a large number of junior teams ready and waiting to test their skills against school or club teams. The real fantasy island of Barbados, with its white sand beaches, blue-green sea and musical rhythm in the air, also boasts an extensive variety of sports and activities. Their obsession with cricket is marginally diminished as netball, hockey, football and rugby gain momentum across the island.
Sport has become such a major part of Barbados life that the island has seen the implementation of a sports tourism policy by the Government of Barbados. Such an implementation has seen the Caribbean Broadcasting Corporation and Direct TV hosting some of the major sporting events that take place in Barbados which has developed the interests of a variety of sports.
